This Y fitting solves a problem found in most high-flow intercooler systems—coolant tank aeration.
Installed inline with the reservoir, one fitting is placed before the tank and one after, creating a controlled bypass that reduces flow through the tank by roughly half. This allows the reservoir to properly degas instead of being overwhelmed by excessive flow.
Originally designed and utilized in OEM GT500 systems, this design becomes critical when running high-output pumps where coolant velocity exceeds what most tanks are designed to handle. Without it, excessive flow can introduce aeration, reducing system efficiency and overall cooling performance.
By controlling flow through the tank while maintaining overall system volume and velocity, this setup allows the entire cooling system to operate more effectively.
Note: Requires two fittings for proper installation (pre- and post-tank).
